North Dakota State senior Payton Otterdahl placed second in the men's invitational shot put with a fifth-round effort of 70-1.50 (21.37m) at the 25th Beach Invitational at Long Beach State's Jack Rose Track. Otterdahl improved on his No. 2 collegiate mark and elevated to No. 5 in the world this year. Otterdahl ascended to the No. 15 all-time collegiate outdoor performer.
